Ice Diamond not cold

I have a Hotpoint Ice Diamond 8120 fridge with no freezer.
The fridge is room temp, light comes on when door is opened.
Altered stat to highest number (coldest) & compressor runs for a second then cuts out. No ice in the compartment & backplate feels warmish to the touch.
How can I locate tthe problem or can you point me in the rite direction.

If it runs for a second then cuts out the compressor itself is the likely cause, and would be uneconomical for a larder fridge to repair.

There’s a slim possibilty the thermostat could cause this, engineer time to diagnose correctly to be honest.

Repairs@ should throw someone up in your area.

Hi Dave
Is there an easy check I can do to bypass the thermostat to check the compressor? Any wires on the back etc?
Oh by the way its an auto defrost fridge.

If, even on the coldest setting you can hear the compressor start up and then immediately shut off…It’s the compressor and time for a new fridge 🙁
