    Hello,

I apologise if this question has been asked previously – I have an Ice Diamond fridge/freezer in the garage (which is not heated). Its 11 months old and on Christmas eve it stopped working. This is when the really cold weather started. A couple of days later it started again (coincidentally when the weather warmed up significantly). Due to its age I’m not sure if I should take a gamble on it continuing to work.

My questions is – could the really low ambient temperature stop it working (and conversely could the warm up convince it to start again)?

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

    Phil

    Hi Phil

It does sould like an anbient temperature problem 😉 This article should help explain why refrigeration needs ambient temperatures.

    Re: Ice Diamond stopped working

Hmmm – I have an Iced Diamond RFA51P also that is defrosting in the garage. Could this cold weather be the cause?

I defrosted it and left it for a couple of days when the problem first arose and it seemed to work ok when turned back on but this didn’t last long and I now have the high temp light on constantly and the freezer is well above decent operating temperature.

I was going to buy a new freezer but if the low ambient temp is the cause of the problem, a new unit is going to suffer the same fate, is it not?

Where do i go from here??

mediteranean is not a bad bet 😉
We don’t normally have sustained cold spells like this, couple or three days you wouldn’t notice.Seperate freezers or don’t rely on it until temps rise to 8c or so.
