I’m getting large amounts of ice crystals forming in the top of my frost-free Whirlpool american-style fridge freezer.

Everything seems to be working OK (fridge isn’t freezing, cold water dispenser is cold) but the ice is clogging up the ice-making compartment door.

Is this likely to be a faulty door seal, or something more sinister? Door seal looks ok (no cuts or nicks) but it is about 7 years old now.

    Possibly the door seal.

First thing to do is determine what kind of ice it is to give you where to start to look…

    Thanks for the link.

A bit more investigation last night shows that condensation is forming on the top of a jutting-out ‘shelf’ bit above the ice container.

This is dripping down to form solid ice (rather than ‘snow’ type ice) right across the width of the freezer, so I don’t think its a water leak from the ice maker, as that would be just in one place.
