    Hi All,

My Father has an Ice King RL341W which has stopped working after just a year. I’ve watched some youtube videos on possible causes and one mentioned is the start relay on the side of the compressor. I’ve taken the start relay off given it a shake and it rattles slightly, I’ve also taken the overload protector off and that rattles too, but is much more noticeable. Could it be that these items have just failed? I’m struggling to find the right parts on the internet, but I list them as follows.

    Compressor Start Relay – QP2 -15 WS K1 L EP11 48D 3

    Overload Protector – QD52YV ( N ) WS BT20 -130 1658L A6102 20 – 9

Do any of you know where I can locate these parts? Any help much appreciated & Thanks in advance!

You won’t be able to get the relay etc, it’s a complete compressor only with electrics.

For fridge relays and overloads though I would suggest that you have a read of this article before you go any further:

Sadly sealed units, complete assemblies and such are all too common and the most frequent reasons for that you can find here:

    Hi

All Ice King products come with a two year warranty as standard. Details here could save you a few pounds 🙂

    Hi,

Thanks for your replies chaps much appreciated, I’ll look into this.

I’ve just had a thought, it may be related or may not be related.

I’ve tested the relay with a multimeter and it is ok, tested the overload protector and it has broken down. I plug this fridge into a switchable 3 way plug that is then plugged into the wall outlet, I run the tv off this 3 way plug too. My mother always unplugs the fridge for some reason or another and what I just noticed was when I plugged the tv in it made an electrical buzz where the contacts meet, could this have blown the overload protector on the compressor if the same thing occurred, say a surge or something?

    Thanks!
