ice won’t stop dispensing!

I’m new here and looking for some urgent help with my Maytag GS2326CEDW Fridge / Freezer.
The ice machine has suddenly started spewing out streams of ice and won’t switch off! The light in the ice dispenser is also on constantly i.e. the off switch won’t work. The only way to stop all this is to leave the freezer door open.
There was a burning smell, but this could have been down to the motor running constantly.
What part do you think would solve the problem? Is it possible to narrow down whether it might be the door panel control (dispenser control board?) or main panel control (main control board?) from the symptoms described?
If it cannot be repaired easily, then what is the best way to de-commision the ice maker so that at least I can use the freezer again?
I’m not an expert on these things so any help gratefully received.

Hi

Sounds like the microswitch has shorted normally caused by using it incorrectly. Ice goes into the glass first then the coke or what ever.. NOT coke then top up with ice. The later causes the slashes of horrible sticky residue and can get through the rubber cover..
