ParticipantYesterday our indesit dishwasher (IDL40) has the water light flashing constantly on all programs selected, all I can hear is some motor working but no water seems to be coming into the machine.
The annoying thing is its only 5 weeks out of its 12 month warranty.
What can I check, is it likley to be a faulty water intake valve if not any pointers as to what to check next would be apriciated.
Thanks

LED1 flashing? Flood protection activated – there is water in the base, the noise you can hear is the drain pump running.
Power off, towels down, tip the machine over to one side to drain the undertray.
If it does it again, you’re playing “Find the leak”.

I bought a new Indesit IDL41 2yrs ago and within 6 months that also died – no error message but a base full of water – and has never worked since!
During this period it had been used only around 10 times. I wonder if this fault is pre-programmed at the factory! 👿January 24, 2010 at 3:47 pm #309866justinbarrow

Well there was water in the botom, i just tipped it out and now the thing is working again, when i took the panel off the side I couldnt see anything obvious.
I am thinking it is a small leak that overtiime may have built up the water but I certainly cant see any evidence of a leak from underneath only on the bottom steel pan where there was water until i tipped the machine back and let it out.
Is there any obvious place to look for leaks as all the hoses seem to be secure?
Thanks again.

These machines are very prone to over soaping leading to leaks into the base.
Using combination tablets, seems to exacerbate the problem. Using separate detergent, rinse aid and salt if required can help.
If the fault returns in short order then you may have an internal leak.

Indesit leaks……… In no particular order:
Salt cap lock ring, overflow turret nut, lower rotor support tube nut, side vent from matrix to cavity joint, circulation pump seals, drain pump inlet joint, wind blowing from the south.
Just about anything, really. Observation is the only way.

ParticipantThanks for advice on this one, float switch was stuck giving machine idea it was sitting in water and wouldn’t work.
