A few weeks ago our dryer broke its belt. I submitted a post on this forum and you guys really helped me out (thanks!). Now I’ve got another
problem that I’m hoping someone can help with.

Our Indesit (WIDL126) washing machine hung/stopped mid-cycle. My wife turned the power off and back on at the wall. After that none of the lights will light (including the power-on light). The automatic door locking mechanism still works, so there’s still power in the machine.

What’s the most likely cause for this failure? Circuit card failure? Transformer failure?

In case its the circuit card, I’ve managed to remove the card. It looks like its got two edge connectors that I presume are test points. Is there any way a mere mortal can verify circuit card goodness using these connectors?

Quite likely to be motor o/c possibly due to carbon brushes.
    Unplug machine before checking :zap:

Sorry, what does the “o/c” mean? And how do I check the motor and/or brushes?

Sorry DanM, by o/c I meant “Open Circuit”.

    Gotcha.

So a electrical failure in the motor can cause the power on/off light on the front panel not to light?

    Hi DanM,

I have a similar problem. How did you fix yours ?

    Cheers,
    John
