Problem is that machine starts and runs through progam, drains, and then stops indicating a drainage fault – 4 flashes. Having investigated there appears to be no water level sensor – only the water inlet wheel with the reed switch and the temperature sensor, nothing else. How do these machines know whether there is water in the sump?

    It’s a mystery!!

    Regards..

The black grid in the sump is a diaphragm switch. It is prone to filling up with congealed fat and jamming in the full position.

Thanks for your quick response, but the problem is that there is no black switch on the base of the sump – no wires nothing! It’s a complete mystery. The machine has worked in the past – quite how is the mystery. When you uncover the program board the only connections are:
Mains power from the on/off switch.
    Heater power
    Main pump power
    Empty pump power.
    Salt dispenser solenoid
    Water inlet valve.
    Door switch
    Wash powder door
    Water inlet reed switch
    Temperature sender
    That’s it!
    Any ideas greatfully accepted, bbuster..
