    Hi

The inner glass on my Ignis AKL393 oven door is loose and needs reglueing. 😥

I have had the door off but am having problems dismantling the inner frame, so that I can clean the area before glueing the glass back in. Any ideas on how would be most welcome.

What is best for cleaning the glass and frame before reglueing with servisol glue ?

Happy New Year to ALL 😆

These doors are usually dismantled by undoing two screws along the bottom edge of the door in the vicinity of the hinges, and the screws going through the top of the door into the back of the handle.

Hot water and elbow grease is about the only practical method for home cleaning, although a wipe with white spirit to finish will help.

Use plenty of sealant, weigh the glass into place and leave ABSOLUTELY UNDISTURBED for 24 hours.

    Good luck,
    Regards,

Re: Ignis AKL393 oven door glass repair

Thanks for your speedy reply and the useful hints on cleaning and sealing – much appreciated 🙂

I tried removing the 2 screws at the base of the door (hinge end) without any problems. The upper screws are more problematic as they appear to be inaccesible – ie inside the door frame between the front door plate and the rear sub frame – the inner glass prevents their easy removal.

I’m sure there’s an easy solution to this – but so far its succeeded in evading me 😥

Lift the outer glass from the bottom slightly and gently then slide it towards you, it’s just “slips” under the handle at the top I think.

I’m doing this from memory, is the handle fitted across the full width of the door and not screwed to the outer glass from inside ?

The outer glass gets stuck in by two blobs of sealant at each corner, just be firm and wiggle it out from under the handle.

    Hi Again

Yep – the screws at the top of the oven do screw into the rear of the full width handle.

Problem is these screws are in between the front plate and the rear subframe that holds the inner glass. (grrrr….) and not accesible.

So – do I still need to remove the front glass or is there a 60cm screwdriver that does the job ?

The front glass will come off now Taffman. The bottom screws are all you need to remove 😉

The outer glass is just pushed under the lower part of the handle, as Kevin says, give a wiggle and it will pull down away and come off 😀

Hi Dave ( & Kevin too)

Thanks for the tips – the front does slide out just like you say and I am in the process of giving it a good clean.

Adhesive wise – is it best to put glue on one or both surfaces before assembling, and do you need to wait until tacky before mating both surfaces?

    Cheers

One surface will do, and no, no need to leave it. Place the glass straight on to the door and weight it down with something then leave for 24 hours, remove the excess and away you go 😀
