ParticipantI have an Ignis AWP046 (858004615000) whose cycle selector (timer) continuously turns round. I have checked all hoses and the pump for blockages and there are none. None of the cycles will start inc. rinse or spin. When machine is turned on in the STOP position it clicks a couple of times and the the pump spins so I assume the drainage pump is working ok. Looking on the internet I see that a continuously turning timer may indicate an error. Is it possible to reset the timer? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for replying. This machine doesn’t have any lights at all.
Additional info: I have been researching this problem tonight online and am now thinking I should check the pressostat but am unsure how to proceed.
I’m hoping that it is not the timer as I cannot find the part number and Ignis/Whirlpool are selling them at more than the cost of a new machine 🙁

You need to call in an engineer who will be able to test the various components. You’re right in that a faulty/blocked pressure switch is a prime suspect, but it could be any number of other components (heater, thermostat, motor, valves etc.) that would be causing the problem – or the timer itself. It’s too big a job to do DIY with only internet advice, unless you know what you’re doing.
The timer switches can be reconditioned by companies like EMW, cost is about £40 to trade, but obviously if a component has caused the failure that needs replacing too, or else it will just blow again. If you’re uncertain, WITH MACHINE UNPLUGGED, you can unclip circuit board and check for burnt tracks/connections. Obviously bearing in mind age of machine you may want to consider if good second hand one is going to be better.

Thank you odom for your help. Luckily I have managed to solve the problem without resorting to having to call out an engineer or having to buy a new timer.
For the record this is what I did:
First of all I blew into the pipe leading to the pressostat and I could clearly hear it click. I then took the pressostat apart to check the switch and found it to be clean and in working order.
Second I disconnected the timer, removed it from the machine and took it apart. I gave it a thorough check for burnt tracks and connections but again it was fine. Reassembled the machine and hey presto it works properly.
I can only think that either the pressostat had stuck and I accidently freed it up or the timer has been reset due to being fully disconnected. I had originally turned the power off to the machine to try and reset it but that had not worked.
