Ikea Frostig (Electrolux) BCF228/64 dead, relay clicks on mains power applied.

Hi All,

Found the power was off in the fridge, light out and control panel off. Mains supply is good.

Upon powering on again at the socket, there are some relay clicks halfway up the left side of the unit. 3 short clicks, then 5 slower clicks then silence. The control panel does not respond and tried leaving the power off for a few minutes before trying again.

This integrated fridge freezer is 8-9 years old and has been running fine right up to when it was found dead. I’m suspecting something like a dried out cap in the control board PSU, a dry joint or a corroded connector. The fans and compressor have been running fine with no problems up to now.

Any ideas what to try next?

Just as I posted, we found that the fridge/freezer fans and compressor are now running again but the control panel and interior light are still off lending more to a control board fault? Or my kitchen is haunted. i would not be happy to leave this unattended in this condition for safety reasons.

Looks to be a sticky door switch! I opened the door to check the fridge fan was running, the control panel LCD display came on together with the interior light. What threw me was the control panel LCD and backlight switching off altogether. I’ll update if this is not the case. Thanks for reading.
