Hi I’m new to the site so thanks for letting me in. I want to replace the igniter on an ikea / wh 500 792 89 5 burner gas hob. Ive taken all the screws out around the burners but the cover is not lifting off. It looks like Ill need a registered gas engineer to disconnect the whole assembly….is this the case?
    Thanks in advance.

You will indeed as DIY gas repairs are a no no. We will not advise on any gas DIY repair as forum rules apply. There is a full explanaation here on this.

    Thanks Don,

I fully understand the rules and regs on gas supply, and would never attempt any diy on any gas system. My question was whether the top cover can be removed without disconnecting the gas supply, as the newer hobs can be I believe?

Your model number is not recognised by any of the databases I use and Google throws up nothing either. I even shortened the model number down one digit at a time until I got to WH500 which is an Electrolux washing machine!!

So it’s either old or the model info you gave is incorrect.

would need the 12Nc number to look it up but i am 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure it has to be removed to fix it

Checked Whirlpool as well from your info so as Dave says we need the 12 number code.

I spoke to whirlpool yesterday and as you mentioned the 12 digit number would be required. They referred me to IKEA. I think I’ll just keep lighting it with a lighter
thanks for all your help guys

Well found Tubafan 🙂 12 nc 854177938500 comes up nicely on Whirlpool parts with that same diagram.

Hope the info helps the OP.
