ParticipantMy IKEA whirlpool slimline semi-integrated dishwasher DWF-417 has an error on it:
I put it on a rinse cycle the other day and when it finished it froze with just the rinse light flashing (indicating the programme had completed).
When I pressed the programme button (the only button apart from on-off on this model), it should move the light onto the other programmes in turn for me to select one but it did not, it had just frozen at the flashing end of rinse programme light. I tried switching off and on again both on the machine and with the plug. I also tried closing the door, turning off and on and hitting the button 6 or 7 times which put it into what I believe is the test cycle, which runs the dishwasher for a few seconds and then a variety of errors appear. Then if I switch it off and on again, it runs a normal rinse cycle right through normally and then goes back to the frozen cycle complete light.
Can anyone help?

KeymasterHi Bovman,
I can’t find the specific codes for that machine so I’m really not a lot of use here. 😕
Johnmac, Dented Porsche, Patches or Kevin may be able to answer but Kev’s away for a few days so hopefully one of the others will be able to help you.

Hiya,
I’ve read this one several times now and from what you describe I’m thinking you may have a faulty programme module.
Best bet here would be to have an engineer check it out.
Sorry, not a lot of help to you on this one.DP

For information:
I got an engineer out – he agreed that it was the pcb programme module at fault, and fitted a new one which solved the problem (was £140+call-out though) Ouch!
I will write to Whirlpool to complain anyway as it was only 18 months old

Hi
This machine is similar to a Neff – S5543X1GB/12.
You could take a chance and order its instruction manual – 521945 as its very similar. Unless anyone has access to correct manual??Regards
Greg

Quite how a Bosch comes to be sold as a Whirlpool with an Ikea badge on it has got to be one of life’s more obscure mysteries…….

I have this machine and was not aware that it is a rebadged Bosh otherwise I would have put a Bosch badge on it!
It has worked for about 18 months but recently started to reassign the program going from economy to heavy dishes. The pump grinds away for hours but the water never starts to flow. I would be exceedingly grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction to suggest how I might fix this.

It sounds to me like the base below the main tank is full of water (if it is the drain pump grinding away continuously) due to overflow or internal leak.
Unplug appliance before investigating :plug:
If you don’t feel confident in attempting repair please feel free to use the engineer link below.Greg

Wow! Spot on! A psychic mechanic! It’s only 18 months old though so I can’t see how it could have worn out already – it was used about twice a week or was that not enough (Miele told me another machine I had that I used on holiday hated to be neglected!).
OK now I think I have found the problem I have no idea how to fix this and the link to service engineers indicates there are no dishwasher people in my postcode (BN12FQ).

I can’t imagine the pump has worn out. The leak in the bottom can be from many things. The most popular is the use of rinse aid in the machine in conjunction with 3 or 4in1 tablets, thus causing over foaming.
If you can’t see a repairer in your area, please email repairs@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for assistance.
