KeymasterHello all – great to find this forum exists – hope someone will be able to help…
Our dishwasher won’t drain – we have reproduceable behaviour:
– start a rinse cycle
– cycle runs as normal until it is time to drain, and then all activity stops
– on opening door, bottom of machine is full of water
– if we manually scoop out water and shut door, then washing activity resumes
– activity stops again, and bottom of machine is full of water
– if we scoop out water a second time and close door, then we get the end of cycle light and buzzerAll filters are clean. We can’t hear anything that gives a clue as to whether a pump is running but failing to pump, or whether just not running.
Any ideas welcome 🙂

Hiya,
I’d guess that the drain hose is blocked or the pump isn’t running.
Check for a blockage in the drain hose, check operation of the pump and if these are both ok check for broken wires in the door.
Hope this is of some help to you.
DPPlease. Remember to pull the power plug first.

Thanks DP 🙂
Bit more info:
Drain hose looks ok – I can drain the machine by gravity via the drain hose at the two appropriate stages in the rinse cycle.
At the drain stages of the cycle, there is a faint hum from the the machine which stops if door is opened or power switched off at the wall – but nothing that sounds to me like a pump trying to run.Can you give me an idea of how to check the operation of the pump??
Cheers,
Pete.

The pump is definitely jammed…might require a new pump but most likely it has a piece of bone or china chip in it.
Have a look in Repairs@ and you might find an engineer in your area. 😉April 6, 2005 at 10:05 am #130636admin

Brilliant – machine fixed now!
I used repairs@, got a fixed price quote (not including any parts required), and the work was done to the quote + the price of a new pump.
Couldn’t have been easier – very glad to have found such an excellent and useful site – good luck for growing it for the future.
(P.S. is there anywhere I can leave feedback for the company who did the repair?? It would be nice to be able to see other users comments when choosing a company)
Cheers,
Pete.
