ParticipantHi there,
I have this error. Its fairly common in terms of a google search.
The dishwasher is pretty old but I think salvageable if i can find out the problem.I tried cleaning an already clean pressure sensor/switch after reading about this error on diynot. The washer worked again for 3 cycles then same error code. So im guessing that wasn’t the problem.
When resetting the error, and starting a cycle you can hear it trying to fill and start, kind of squelching sounds, then eventually the error beeps and flashes.
Another thread on here mentions that this FA error on this model could be the flow meter/water metering chamber behind the left panel.
I had a look at this, not while running yet, but noticed some water around bottom 3rd connection at the bottom around the black washer. As in photo.
when pressure is applied the chamber, the water that was in there leaked out of this 3rd inlet/outlet.(It worked again for 3 cycles after having out for the 2nd time – then error code again)
So im assuming at the moment the chamber is the problem, and any leak may be causing that polystyrene float/flood switch to go possibly.
I’ll try running it with left panel off for a better look, but hard to do as im in a galley kitchen. Also I tried figuring a way to remove the chamber/tank but havent got a clue. The connection to inside of dishwasher doesnt seem to want to budge.
Any advice appreciated.
Mods/admin – I cant upload the photos. User group error only 19.5kb left on your servers?
Cheers

the site sets a limit to save money on server costs but you can upload the pics to another picture site and then post a public link to themalso do you want to check that model number as i cant find it . There should also be a 12Nc number which is useful

Moderatorhave found DWFB10W
on that model FA error is the OWI (optical water sensor error)since this is an old model and they have a habit of breaking the wires at the bottom of the door that where i would look
take care and do it slowly as there are a lot of wires the same colour and if more than one are broken you dont want to mix them up

ParticipantHi Dave. The full model number is Dwf b10w 8542 416 15810
already checked those wires. There was an earth wire snapped but I repaired that not expecting it to do much.
Somewhere else or here mentioned that as the model doesn’t have this optical sensor that the error code is likely this water meter chamber.
I still need to run a cycle with the side off. If it is that I don’t know how to remove it. I’ll try and get some images hosted and link them.

Moderatormanual is not very clear
Fault FA is metioned in 2 placesits described in one place as WI- failure
the other is pic attached
there is also a fault code for flow meter failure which is F7 so it may not be the inlet reed sw
i would look at the pressure sw mounted on the sump

ParticipantHi Dave. I did the pressure switch on first attempt. It was clean as a whistle but i cleaned anyway keeping its grease intact inside the switch. Again worked 3 cycles. And back to error.
its strange that the two times I’ve dragged it out the kitchen it starts working again for a 3 cycles. So the fact that I’m draining it and water in any part is emptied alleviates the problem for a while.

for this price it may be worth changing the switch to see if it cures it
