Ikea Whirlpool Nutid HB4IH Induction Hob numbers flashing

Hi,

I’m investigating a problem on an ikea whirlpool nutid HB4IH induction hob (Model number 80123766). Whenever you turn on any of the rings the number for that particular ring starts flashing and ring doesn’t start to warm the pan. There is no ‘F’ displayed as the instruction book suggests there would be to indicate a fault code. I can adjust the heat setting numbers up and down no problem and pressing fast boil shows a P as it does normally. I can hear a regular clicking noise every couple of seconds when a ring is on and very occassionally the ring works for a fraction of a second if set to high heat. Any clues as to what’s possibly gone wrong would be appreciated.

Sorry, forgot to add that a pan was on the ring and it’s a suitable pan for induction. It’s one the owner has used for some time on this hob.
