2 of these up to now this week , the ones with the solid white plastic bottom. Same problem – flush up to the granite worktop, tiled up to the base complete with underfloor electric heating, feet wont adjust and the tiles are above the bottom of the base. Its going nowhere without removing either the granite or the floor. Customer not happy when I explain and funnily enough the company that did the installation arent around anymore. The correct way to install a kitchen is to put the floor in first and put the units on top of the tiles. However when have kitchen fitters ever done this – its get in and get out with the cash as soon as possible and as long as all the bodging is hidden away any problems are for somebody else – usually us. Last Friday while unscrewing a cold fill hose from the tap the plumbing came apart -water everywhere also it was directly above a plug socket. I was there till 7o clock fixing it. The kitchen fitting industry needs an enforceable code of practice imposing on it. Just think of the hours of your life that have been lost because of these barstewards.

I remember a particularly nasty customer with one of these trapped in Bosch dishwashers many years ago. She was convinced her dishwasher had failed due to water company works outside and wanted me to write a report stating this. I declined as the dishwasher simply had an internal leak. She would not take no for an answer and kept pestering me with phone calls. I think her husband was a lawyer and suspect they wanted to issue a legal claim against the water company for the thousands of pounds required to renew the 3 inch thick heated marble floor.

Had an appliance this week. Nice looking new utility room Pulled it out plumbing not clipped to wall. Plumbing Leaning at 45 degrees with machine out pushed it back in and inlet hose sheared off as it got caught between top back of machine. Water up the windows! Looked an idiot. 45 mins mopping up flood! Customer then asked can you look at my fridge icemaker!

Went to a DW a month or so ago. Both the inlet and the outlet hose had been fitted and then tiled over behind a wall.
Really struggled to get it across to the customer that it wasn’t going to come out without ripping the wall and tiles apart. Thing is, he said his best mate did the kitchen for him, I’d have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that conversation.
Still waiting for the return call…

And the customers still can’t grasp why we charge more to attend an integrated appliance 🙁
Had an integrated double oven a few weeks ago that needed to be removed for an element swap. Cable was cut so short it would only move forward a few inches from the cabinet, had to rewire the bloody thing to complete the job. Kitchen fitters indeed. :bang:

    The joys of integrated dishwashers
Went to one a few years ago , the kitchen fitter GRIPFILLED the dishwasher to the floor !!!
A jackhammer was needed to remove it.
    Aaaaaarg.!!

The amount of times I’ve attended a dishwasher built in up to the worktop of course and the floor tiler comes along ❗

Usually these kind of calls, if the dishwasher can’t be removed within 15 mins after we arrive, and there’s an issue with the kitchen, we tell the customer to get the dishwasher removed and we will call back to continue the repair as we won’t accept liability for any damaged kitchen unit or kick board due to an incompetent/lazy kitchen fitter or tiler who do a job thinking that the appliance never has to be serviced at a future date.
