I have not come across any domestic sat-nav that can utalise OS grid references. I have however used a fair few of the Sat-Navs that are available and I do not include palm type units in my comments.
All have there pro’s and con’s and it depends on what featues you deem as being important. For me however a Sat-Nav needs to be able to get me to where I need to go and bells and whistles are useless if the unit gets you lost or takes you all round the houses. A lot of Sat-Navs like the Navman and Tom Tom as well as others use Windows CE as an operating system and can crash when you least need it ! If you want funny voice instructions and be able to load mp3 files and pictures then these may be what you require.
I prefer a Sat- Nav to have the following features,
Full seven digit postcode operation,
Clear mapping
Clear spoken instructions
Safety Camera Warnings.
A stable Operating system.
My choice was therefore the Snooper Indago, great unit running Linux as an OS, clear mapping which uses Navtec mapping as used by the likes of Fed-EX and DHL, clear spoken instructions , Full Postcode Search and Entry, and very good speed camera database Enigma which is maintianed by dedecated staff unlike the hit and miss efforts of some others.

Hi
If you want one that is a proffesional one that the likes of the ambulance service use then this is one.
This is the system that i have used for the past 9 yrs and havent had any problems what so ever, installation is normally about £130 but its worth paying the extra as it cant be nicked as easy.

ambulance service use then this is one.
Mm! My mate is an emergency ambulance driver and the they often cannot find addresses with that device. Evidently it uses a maxium of tracking 8 satellites and you need three to operate it at any one time.
All the latest units use 12 satellites and SIRF3 algorithms which offer much faster GPS reception and reduces the canyon effect it built up areas. We live in a populated area and one of my customers was telling me how her husband waited 40 minutes for the ambulance to arrive recently
which could not find the address even with their onboard Sat Nav.The indago is vehicle transferable and is all you need to get from A/B with full European Mapping and Speed Camera databases for those regions too.
You pays ya money and takes your choice. 🙂
