I have an ancient Indesit 320… basically the other day the door resistance spring which is strung underneath the dishwasher decided to snap… this in turn gashed the windings on the water drain pump which of course took out the pump …. hmmmm

are these pumps/motors easy to get hold of ? it’s basically an open motor like this

    http://www.electricspare.co.uk/custom_i … 9495b2.jpg

it’s the best I could find on the web but somebody who knows what I’m talking about will recognise the type of motor instantly

but the dishwasher pump obviously is without the triangular mounting plate and it connects directly into the pump turbine…. do they come separately or do you have to buy the motor and the turbine ?

Seems a shame to trash the dishwasher because up until the door spring snapping it was working brilliantly ….

Also if anybody could put an approx age on the dish washer I’d appreciate it 🙂

There are no parts left for it – it’s 20-25 years old now.

However, last year, I did manage to finagle one of THESE into one of a similar age.

Sadly you can count the lifespan of current Indesit production in months rather than years.

Do your very best to keep it going but don’t buy another one whatever you do. 😥

Well considering I kept my old washing machine going for 25 years…. even finding the right thyristor for it’s spin speed when it blew…… nightmare when the originals painted markings had simply faded with time….. there’s life left in the old dog yet ….. it’s just typical that something as uncomplicated as a spring damaged it….

I will look into that botchery you mentioned on that web site you’ve given me… Heath Robinson is alive and well ;¬)

    thank you 🙂

I have hundreds of appliances on my patch over 25 years old that are still going strong. Anything over 7 or 8 years old I will be able to repair at a reasonable cost 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time. Anything under 5 years old will be BER ( beyond economic repair) 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time. 😥

I understand… I was a tech in the Royal Signals… and after that I have been repairing computers since about 1986 in those days you got your soldering iron out and oscilloscope and circuit diagrams…. these days it’s just throw away and the build quality just isn’t there ….

I’ll get the beast going it might not be pretty but it will work ;¬)

Dishwasher fixed…. I managed to get hold of a similar motor off a completely different dishwasher…. fortunately all the holes lined up and the only thing I had to change was the back bearing which on the original was too small… other than that good as new 🙂

thanks for all your help 🙂
