ModeratorJust had a call from an longstanding customer, wants me to have a look at her mothers machine.
Indesit (model unknown) purchased 08/2003. Flashing 8 times. They have had someone to look at it, and been told the module is faulty, will cost £150.
He has advised them to let him sell them a Creda machine for £200 plus the Indesit as PX. 🙁I have offered to have a look. A couple of quick questions, when did Indesit start giving 5 years parts warranty ?
Does error 08, Heater relay fault always require new module or are there other known causes of error 08 ?
As their daughter, my original customer is a very good friend I have informed them of the possibilty of a refurbished module as a much cheaper solution.

From the various references to these monstrous things, pretty much anything can cause any error code to display.
Of course, as we can’t get the revelent technical info it’s quite often the case that modules are diagnosed when in fact they are fine.
Common one’s are, pressure switch, heater thermistor leads broken at the plug, blocked anything etc etc.

The standard w103, w123 etc only have the first 12 months and no parts warranty after that.
Hope that helps

I have just spoken to them on the phone, it is a W103UK. He says they have green card that mentions 4 years extra parts but cannot see ‘Evolution’ anywhere on the machine.
Thanks for your replies,
Jim.

He has advised them to let him sell them a Creda machine for £200 plus the Indesit as PX. 🙁Went to this machine this afternoon. Apparently this chap never even pulled the machine out, just switched it on, watched the knob revolve and the neon flash, then told them it was not worth repairing and offered them a new Creda.
In fact the pressure switch had stuck in the closed position, a sharp rap on its side and the machine worked perfectly, changed switch, problem solved. 🙂
When she rang this bloke yesterday to let him know that she would not be taking up his generous offer, he blasted her with a tirade of foul mouthed abuse. 👿
Its a great pity that trading standards are useless at dealing with this type of cowboy whilst prompting action against the likes of Pat-UK.

Sadly it would appear that legitimate businesses are an easy target. 🙁
