ParticipantHey everyone,
I brought this Indesit BDE861483XWUKN washer/dryer just over a week ago and I noticed that the drying cycle is taking an awfully long time, although I’ve never had a condenser dryer before so I’m not sure if that’s normal.
Yesterday I put it on a “mixed” cycle and it estimated the time as 59 minutes for the wash cycle and 210 minutes drying cycle. Once the drying time had reached 0:01 time remaining it just stayed like that for hours until eventually it added another 30 minutes (I assume as part of it’s cool down cycle) and then eventually stopped once that counted to 0. Overall it took nearly 8 hours for the cycle to complete.
It doesn’t seem right to me that it should take nearly twice the estimated time, especially considering that I hadn’t overloaded the machine (it was only about half full, if that). I have tried other settings such as eco 40-60 but they take just as long on the dry cycle and just take longer on the wash cycle.
Does anyone know if it’s normal for a condenser dryer to take so long to complete a cycle? Is it using a sensor to check for the humidity level in the clothes or is just on a timer?

Moderatoryou do realise that if you want to use the dryer you can only put 6Kg max in the machine as the dryer needs more room in the drum to work

Hi Dave,
Yes I did realise that and although I didn’t weigh the washing the machine was only half full so I don’t think it was over 6kg in weight. I have always wondered though is the 6kg limit when the clothes are dry or after they’ve been through the wash cycle already and will be heavier from the water? I am assuming that as the dryer took so long it must be using a sensor to determine if the clothes are wet or not? Otherwise I don’t know why it would be taking so long.

ParticipantThanks for the info. I thought it would be the case that it’s normal but just wanted to be sure.
