evening all, the freezer on my 4 year old Indesit c239 has just stopped working. I had the red flashing light for a day or two and it was obvious that stuff wasn’t frozen properly. I emptied the freezer and defrosted it thoroughly. I’ve now switched it on again and have the red light permanently on with no cooling whatsover in the freezer section. What are the chances of an economic repair do you think? The fridge section is working fine, so I was hoping this means it could well be a control/electronics problem rather than the compressor. Any thoughts folks? TIA

That model uses a diverter valve which is controlled by the electronic pcb. Could be either at fault or one of the sensors. Not easy to diagnose. The PCB is around £50 + fitting to give you an idea of cost.

many thanks, sounds like it’s worth calling an engineer … I’m a bit reluctant to chuck a 4 year old appliance without getting it looked at.
