ParticipantI have an Indisit C239NFUK that will not run. The history of the fault is as follows:-
Came home and neither fridge nor freezer working but red warning light is on and interior light working.
First checked that the cooler was not solid with ice – yes, we have left the door ajar before and had to do the 48hr defrost. No, on this occassion, it doesn’t appear to be that.
I have a good understanding of electronics so pulled the freezer out to have a look at the motor and measure a few voltages.
As I believe the unit has an over temperature sensor on the motor / compressor and it could be that the first thing tried was to switch it off at the mains for 15 mins and allow everything to reset .
Switched back on and tried the termostats for both the fridge and freezer and they seem to be working correctly – at the very lowest setting they seem to switch everything off including the interior light; is this a good enough test? Waited, after a while a “click” from somewhere. Motor starts to get hot but doesn’t sound like it’s running; no humm, no gurgling of refrigerant, nothing. Checked some voltages and both 240V and neutral is present everywhere around the motor connections (without a diagram!) that I would expect.
Mmm, thoughts are start/run capacitor.
Fulled a few wires and checked a few more voltages and the unit suddenly sprang into life, what did I do/touch – I’m not sure! Turned off and on again a few times and all seems fine. Odd, but then again I have known capacitors to become weak or fail intermittently so assumed that was the case. I did remove and, after first discharging it, charge the capacitor across a 12v battery and it held that voltage for the 15 mins that I waited. A poor test but it did give me a doubt about my diagnosis.
With the unit now working fault finding is difficult. Left unit on and it worked without a problem, quickly dropping the temperature from the -2 to -15 in the freezer and down to 4 degrees in the fridge. Disregarding this I did purchase and replace the start/run capacitor the following day (Sunday) so by the time the new capacitor was fitted the unit has run for just over 24hrs without a problem. Despite that I fitted the new capacitor – just in case!
This morning, Wed (3 days later) I have had a call from my wife to say that neither the fridge or freezer are working again. Red warning light is on and interior light works.
Suggestions or a copy of the circuit diagram would be very welcome.
I really don’t think it is the dreaded frost build up but if anyone thinks strongly to the contrary I will give it a go.

Could be a faulty ptc/relay which is the start device,if the compressor has a mechanical fault it could be going out either on the cut out at the side of the relay or the internal widings protector which is in the compressor.
What compressor is fitted to tihis one?October 8, 2009 at 10:07 pm #298873kandlbarrett

Danfoss with many numbers either stamped into the casing or on a yellow sticker.
Numbers stamped into the casing are:-
YE45311 (on the top)
LY-7F-6730 (on the side)
AL462A2208 (stamped immediately below LY-7F-6730 listed above)Numbers on the yellow sticker:-
NLY7F
6730
105GWhich number identifies the exact model number is not indicated.
Thank you for your initial interest.
I have put a 240V supply direct onto the connectors that the capacitor uses (with the capacitor also left in place) assuming that this would put 240V accross the motor and bypass all other controls (faults.) The only thing this does is to cause the motor to “humm.”
Putting the meter accross the capacitor and and turning the freezer on at the mains does not show any voltage across here even when keeping the meter on it for 4 or 5 mins. I would expect to see a voltage appear when the controlling circuit switched the motor on but without a diagram what is between the electronics and the motor? I think you are suggesting that there is a relay.Note: I have seen the master PCB (second hand) on ebay but, with all indicator lights, thermostats appearing to work do you think I can rule that out or at £10 should I grab the apparent bargain even though it is secdond hand.

That danfoss compressor is prone to failing , the crankshaft snapps due to no oil strainer being fitted when the compressor was made 🙁
