Just cut the copper lead attaching the carbon the holder and reverse it so its pointing in the right direction, I’m not sure if this is frowned upon or not but done it hundreds of times with no problem

I always assumed it was to ensure a good contact and secondly to hold them in….. always open to new info tho so …..

Your assumption perfectly correct.
No tag = no contact and therefore only the spring and the metal guide are acting as ‘indirect conductors’ which will result in overheating and premature failure…….not good. 🙁

and when the brush wears down the spring goes into the commutator
damages the motor blows the pcb and you can sell them a new machine.March 30, 2012 at 10:05 am #372237electrofix

Why not carefully (put yer glasses on) hacksaw the brush to face the opposite direction.
Ideally you would also use the same blade to slightly serate the brush, use a combing action with the hacksaw blade to help it bed in,
finish off by re-fitting and then bed the brushs in with some comm stick cleaner, also available from qualtexMarch 30, 2012 at 11:04 am #372239Martin

Dave, in your first post you were uncertain of the exact model no of the machine. Can you clarify what the model is now? You mentioned also is was a “motor ACC” is that the make of the motor? (never heard of it before)
Lots of cranky advice here on how to bodge a brush in but I’m sure you’d like to do better than that surely to god. 😀

In that case it one one of these 3 options
C00273898
C00114885
or C00097255All seem to have the same exact profile as the CAR99. :con:
