Indesit D16 not starting

Hi hope someone can help, my dishwasher just suddenly stopped working, the power light comes on but when I close the door it doesn’t start.

Any advise would be much appreciated!!

Hi, it could be the door lock micro switch that has a fault.
Do you have any flashing lights or codes?

The machine would normally start off with a drain pump noise before it fills so if you don’t hear this noise I would guess door lock

Hi Simon

No there’s absolutely no noise, the light stays on, I’m not sure if I should be contacting a plumber or an electrician? is the door lock micro switch easy to replace as I would prefer to try and fix myself or how can I find out if this is the problem?

Plumber, PLUMBER, :rolls: would you contact a domestic appliance engineer if your toilet was leaking?

Door latch switch is a common failure on these, it’s inside the door at the top, be very careful if you open it up, be sure to remove the mains plug and watch the sharp edges.

Haha I would contact a plumber if my toilet was leaking but I would also contact an electrician if I wanted a switch changing??!

And if you did call someone who advertised themselves as an electrician 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of them would suggest you called a domestic appliance engineer.. 😉
