ParticipantI have recently transported and installed an Indesit D61 Dishwasher (2 years old) but when I try to use it it is not filling with water. I have checked the plumbing and it is definitely getting water to the back of the machine… I have also cleaned the filter at the back of the machine that the hose connects to.. all to no avail
The machine is obviously not progressing through its cycle as it is not filling with water so just clicks round once and sits doing nothing but sounding like it is doind something!!
I read somewher something about an Anti Flood switch that might have been activated but am not sure how to check that…please can anyone help or suggest something else to check.
Thanks in advance

Tilt the machine backwards and see if any water runs out from the base, that would indicate a leak which will activate the anti-flood device.
The leak will then have to be found and rectified, if you need an engineer, try repairs@ and the directories.

Thanks Dave, could the switch have been activated by water still being within the machine during transport? If the switch has been activated how easy is it to unset?

Yes it could if water go in to the base.
It will reset itself once the base is clear of water.

Thanks Dave, I did notice that the Salt Container was full of water so that could well be the problem. How would I empty any excess water in the base tray? I am a bit of a novice when it comes to Dishwashers as i am sure you can tell! Thanks again for your help

cn50,
The Salt Container should be full of water at all times. As you add salt that water is the expelled into the tub through displacement of course, but that has nothing to do with your present problem!
What is the likely problem, that the anti-flood switch has tripped and not reset itself. (It’s basically a microswitch operated by a polystyrene float arrangement) This then needs close attention, however it is not a DIY job in all honesty and best left to the experts to sort it. Try to see if we have one in your area who can advise, just click below: –
Repairs@Just one thing you could try meanwhile (WITH THE PLUG REMOVED OF COURSE!!! :zap: ) Is tilt the machine ‘backwards’ by about 45 degrees and give a sharp tap to the centre of the base panel (where the anti-flood is locate) to see if that releases it as a bit of crud or even cobwebs can cause it to stick 😉
