ParticipantI will try and present you with allt eh relavent info here:
I have an indesit D63 dishwasher.
Recently a glass broke in it leaving small chunks everywhere, my wife tried to pick up all the piueces but I have since found bits in the filter.my wife reported that the dial would not advance on to the next position, she had to manually move it on to the next program.
I loked inside and found dirty water, pretty much over the top of the salt filler cap.
i sponged the water out, cleaned out rice and sweetcorn from the filter, though not very much of it, oh and a couple of bits of glass.
I then tried the soak proagram,
The machine filled with water through the filter sump until about half way up te salt filler, then sat and did nothing.
No spinning arms, and no advancing to the end of the program to drain.Looking at other posts I suspect it could be a bit of glass in the main pump.
If the motor has not burnt out is it reasonably possible to access this pump and clean it out. I would like to avoid the £65 parts cost of a new pump if I can help it at all.If this sounds a reasonably simple thing to try can someone with the know how please tell me where I should go about looking to get to this pump and how to remove it or clean it safely, ie without flooding the utility room when I remove the pump.
TIA
Andy

Drain hose down to ground level should allow machine to drain by gravity. However, the circulation chamber on the pump is a sealed unit, and the hoses are attached to the machine by crimp bands. I would seriously recommend getting pro help on this one – it really is a brute to try and work on.
Check repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.
Power off if you are going underneath. :plug:

Thanks for that advice.
I’ll not try and mess with it myself then if it’s such a difficult job, I had imagined it was a case of unscrew the pump cover, remove the blockage and put everything back together by te time the kettle has boiled for my post job cuppa.
Might not be worth spending money on an old indesit, though I don’t like throwing perfectly fixable stuff out. I’ll have to negotiate between my eco-conscience and my wallet.
