My old Indesit DE73 has now started playing up again, failing with error code A12 for about 70{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of wash cycles. I know this means “Relay with open circuit- check heater” and have checked wiring is ok from processor board down to heating element and that the heating element appears to be ok (if a resistance of around 30ohms is correct). I have checked the water temperature on a Hot Rinse cycle and it is only luke warm. On the Intense cycle it remained cold during the first soak/drain then went to code A12 shortly afterwards. Does anyone know what the problem is likely to be? If the problem is likely to be the control board then its probably time for a new dishwasher.
Thanks for the reply Penguin45. Maybe I’m old fashioned but it seems hell of a waste to throw out a whole dishwasher for the sake of a relay. As I said earlier it would not be cost effective to replace the PCB but can the relay itself be easily sourced? If so I would get the soldering iron out and give it a go!
I replaced the relay at the grand cost of £2.34 + £5 postage and thus far we have had a week of trouble free dish-washing so looking promising. This may be useful info to anyone having the same problem and can use a soldering iron.
