Have had ths dishwasher for a number of years and has been very good.At the moment it gets to the wash part of the cycle and will not progress. The pump is not blocked. Can anyone hazard a guess please or tell me how to locate fault.Am inclined to think it could be the switches operated by pressure or perhaps one of the air pipes blocked but there are about four pipes and 2 switches. Any help greatly appreciated.

There are 2 thermostats on this model. One has a probe in the machine and the other is external with spring contact. Assume one may do the operational control and the other is safety. Think these could be the problem. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi David, I presume that that while not progressing from wash cycle that it is also not heating?
If this is the case then I would first look at the safety thermostat (screwed into tub). This should be normally closed and is rated at 78c.
The other thermostat is 65c normally open.
unplug machine before going in please. :zap:

    Thanks Martin.
Thats the thing I don’t understand. It fills, to correct level and soap door opens. It heats up and washes and drains. Then does a cold rinse and drains ok again.Fills again for hot rinse and this is when it sticks. It heats but does not reach 75c. Perhaps the springloaded contact thermostat @65c controls the wash (took it off and it is open circuit)and the screw in one is for the hot rinse ? Bit of a puzzle really but any advice much appreciated.

Thats odd then. The 75 n/c stat should not actually operate unless the water temperature is not controlled by the 65c stat (both must be working ok in order to complete the washing part of the cycle.
I am now wondering if there may be a problem with the program timer.
Hopefully one of the Indesit guys will have further suggestions for you.

I replaced the 75c screw in thermostat but still the same. Not sure whether it is worth trying the other one because it seems very expensive for what it is and no certainty that it will cure the problem. s there any way that can determine whether it is this thermostat ?

Remove it, heat it, use test meter to see if it makes and breaks the circuit.

I have done this and it does open contact. Tried it taped to a saucepan of water with a thermometer and it seemed ok.I therefore thought t was the safety stat breaking too soon so I bought one but does not change anything.Stlll continues to get up to temperature and then cool down without progressing to drain but definately not the pump.

It may well be worth removing the door outer panel and checking the condition of the wiring at the pivot point.
