Hi Guys, hope someone can offer advice on this.
My Indesit 6100 tripped the house RCD whilst in the hot cycle. Opened it up and it was quite hot and the lower spray arm jammed by a spoon. Reset the rcd and resumed cycle but it tripped instantly. Set it to prog 4 (cold rinse and pumpout) and it finished ok and drained.

I tested it next day 2 or 3 times and each time the rcd tripped at about the same point, ie it would fill and cold rinse, drain, refill and fail a few mins into the next stage. Element cold. Metered the elemnet and was getting a small resistance but don’t know the correct value.

Ok, so I think the element could be fried so I disconnected it (insulating the terminals of course) and it ran, and ran, and ran…. I assume the timer was not triggered to advance beyond a certain point if the water was not hot. Please tell me if I’m wrong! Anyway the rcd never tripped.

Oh yes, I have removed the base cover and the wiring was dry, some small evidence of leakage through one door seal drain but minor.

Any advice gratefully received. If should I get an element, my local supplier is having difficulty, any ideas where.

    Thanks

Almost certainly the element, and you are quite correct in that the timer won’t advance until it reaches temperature.

Part number C00066598 at £17.54 inc VAT and delivery (3-5 days).

An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk please if you’d like one ordered.

Re: Indesit DG6100W tripping RCD:Faulty elemnent?

Thanks Dave, I’ve ordered an element from my local supplier but it’s turning into the Python cheeseshop sketch! (everyday another excuse why they haven’t got it, but the cat hasn’t eaten it yet, maybe that one tomorrow!).
Anyway, I’ll give them one more day and if no joy I’ll order from ukwhitegoods as you suggest. Just a couple of questions if that’s ok

Can I order by phoning the no on the left (01392 etc).

I’m told the element comes with a new seal fitted is that right

Is fitting straightforward. I see it clips into a couple of brackets, do you just carefully clip it in to these with minimum bending, or do have to feed it through (which looks impossible due to its shape).

Thanks again, fantastic help, great web site. Will make more use of it for sure!

Yep, the number to phone is correct, and the seal comes with it.

Sorry, I can’t advise on the fitting directly but a straightforward enough swap on the whole.

    Power off of course :plug:

    Cheers Dave
I’ll be phoning the local supplier soon and if no good I’ll be in touch.
    Thanks

Re: Indesit DG6100W tripping RCD:Faulty elemnent?

Just a final update and thanks.

The element did arrive from the local guy, now fitted and working again perfectly. Wish I’d known about UKW earlier, it would have saved time and walking. But at least I do now.

The main lesson I’ve learnt is that a jammed spray arm can cause the element to burn out, so load with care.

    Thanks again for the advice

    Ian

Re: Indesit DG6100W tripping RCD:Faulty elemnent?

    Well done Ian.

For the benefit of future readers, the element in this dishwasher is of the “semi-immersion” type. It is exposed on the floor of the dishwasher. It relies on the random showering of water from the rotors to transfer the heat of the element into the water. A restricted or blocked rotor will not allow water to be distributed correctly and localised overheating of the element will cause rapid failure.

Clean your filters, clean your rotors.

    Regards,
    Penguin45.
