Indesit DG6145 Compartment door not opening

We have an indesit DG6145 Dishwasher which was in the house when we moved in (3 years ago). Its been working fine up until now but for the past 5 ish washes the compartment for putting the tablet in doesnt open, leaving a not fully dissolved tablet and not washing the dishes fully. There doesnt seem to be any blockages as far as we can see.

Any ideas?

Likely to be the detergent dispenser – try this, close the dispenser with nothing in it, place the tablet in the cutlery basket. Put it on a normal wash with plates etc in and let the program go through. At the end of the cycle see if the flap has opened, if so the dispenser is OK if not then you need a replacement dispenser. Either way if you continue putting the tablet in the basket you can continue using the appliance until you get it sorted. 😀
