KeymasterHey guys,
Ok so i kow NOTHING about dish washers other than it saves me a job every couple of days – not I’m lost with a fault!!
On my Indesit DI62, I normally use the second wash cycle. However when I put it on tonite – the machine humms at the base but no water is pumped around. When i re-open the door the green light is flasshin on the first wash cycle??
Nothing happens in terms of washing or anything like that.
Are there any basic things I can check before I call out the maintenence people??
Cheers

ParticipantHuddy,
Unfortunately it could be a number of things – not filling, not circulating, drain pump jammed. As you have already admitted to the level of your technical ability, time for the engineers……… If still under warranty contact Indesit; if not check Repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.Regards,

Thanks Penguin!!
OK lets assume I have a wee bit of knoweldge (having rang up about a service call and it’s £72 just to come and have a look!!)
Are there any basic things I can check and are they obvious to find? I am happy to pull the plug and have a fiddle in a vein attampt to stop daylight robbery ;o)
Is that the normal call out charge as it seems pretty high to me??
Any help is most appreciated!!
Cheers

Huddy,
A more reasonable ‘going rate’ for the job would be a labour charge of around £56 to £60. These beasts are tricky to access and service, so a fair rate for for an experienced engineer to sort it. If the maximum labour charge is £72 then that’s not too unreasonable as it could take an hour or so to remove, dismantle, reassemble refit and test!
Sounds like either the drain pump OR the main circulating pump have got blocked, so a tricky job sorting it but worth the expense.
Definitely not a DIY fix I’m would venture to suggest either
