ParticipantHi guys I’m new to this forum and really hope you can help me. I am attempting to repair a DI620 dishwasher for a family member. Initially it wouldn’t drain and after various tests I found the drain pump to be faulty. Replaced it but now the pump just runs continuously. When it is switched on drain pump kicks in and after a short while it fills but drain pump continues pumping. After a further period of time lights 1 and 3 flash and it won’t go any further apart from draining that is. Any suggestions would be really appreciated as its beginning to frustrate me now. I do have some electro/mechanical knowledge as I was a service engineer before I went into teaching.

Lights 1+3 are supposed to indicate blocked filters.
Can also be faulty main circulation pump, faulty capacitor, faulty flow meter or badly blocked spray arms.
A good clean out of all the filters in the base is the first thing to try.

Thank you for your response to my request for assistance with the fault I am trying to rectify on the DI620. I checked the filter as soon as I realised what the fault code indicated and although it wasn’t really clogged up I cleaned it anyway. I havent really checked the other things you suggested but I will but would any of those things explain the drain pump running continuously even when the machine takes in water? Once it has taken the water in and presumably pumped it straight back out as the drain pump does not stop, lights 1 and 3 then begin to flash and the cycle goes no further although the drain pump still runs. At one point I physically cut the power to the pump and the machine filled and the cycle began and seemed to progress correctly but once I restored power to the drain pump the fault recurred. Could this be a PCB fault?

Its an Indesit, it has possibly the worst electronics on the market so anything is possible. :rolls:
The drain pump is energised in most ‘error’ situations.

Thanks mate I am begining to realise just how substandard these Indesit models are but I really need to try and get it sorted and now you have said that the drain pump is energised in most error situations I am puzzled. Cleaned spray arms, checked circulation pump and tested capacitor..all ok. Do you have any more suggestions? Any help would be much appreciated. 😕

It could be the high pressure senosr, a small device fitted between the main circulation pump and the lower spray arm but could also be a faulty PCB.
We are getting into hit and hope territory now and as my good friend Goatboy says, a trebuchet is the best solution. 😉

Thank you for your ongoing assistance. May be a day or two before i get to look at it again but I will go through everything you have suggested including your latest suggestions. I can remember seeing the high pressure sensor that you refer to but didnt realise that is what it was. How does that work and do I just do a simple open circuit test with my meter? I will let you know how I get on. Cheers mate. 🙂

Never actually tested one, as I said anything from here on in is pure speculation.
It is a simple, normally closed micro switch that opens when there is sufficient water pressure flowing to the spray arms, if the pressure drops then it closes and sends a signal to the PCB, due to its position its almost impossible to test in situ.
A break anywhere in the wiring to this switch would give the same error message, could you have dislodged something when you changed the pump?

Cheers mate I will check everything including the possibility of something becoming disconnected or dislodged following the pump replacement. 🙂

ParticipantRe: Indesit DI620 Dishwasher Fault lights 1 and 3 flashing
Hi all,
I’ve been pulling my hair out (what’s left of it anyway) with my DI620. Lights 1 and 3 flashing. I’ve replaced the wash pump, checked the drain pump – took it off the machine and wired to a lead to test!!
I have checked the pressure switch which operates correctly. I have checked continuity of the high pressure sensor which stays closed circuit throughout the drain and fill process. The machine bleeps after the fill process and then the flashing lights.
I’ve tested the HP sensor both by bypassing the switch and running machine with it both open circuit (disconnected) and closed circuit (bypassing switch).
I feel like I’ve exhausted all avenues on this one apart from the PCB. Could anybody offer more suggestions?
My hands are lovely and soft from all the washing up but Xmas is looming and I wanna get this fixed, or as I had read in a previous post on here, TREBUCHET!!
any assistance greatly appreciated.December 15, 2012 at 6:37 pm #325211madangler1

Rite. To start again.
Which pump did you change wash circulation or drain pump ?
Next when it fills it should static fill(just water no pumps running) for 3 litres of water then when it reaches that level it should activate the wash pump and continue to fill for another litre or so until final level is reached. When you say it’s filling does the wash pump activate at all after a minute or so ?
The blocked filter error is caused by a lack of pressure coming out of the wash pump not activation the HP switch BUT the main pressure switch is also taken into account under some circumstances.
As an important note if you changed the wash pump have you connected the the plugs the correct order, the HP switch and motor use an identical plug on some models and one SHOULD be red to signify its for the HP switch but I have seen them white like the motor one as well. If you have got this wrong you would have blown board resulting in this very problem.
