I rang comet today and I’m being told that I have to pay a £30 call out fee for the engineer to inspect the dishwasher. I’m then told told that if it turns out to be a major component fault then I will be entitled to a discount on the parts but still have to pay for the engineer to fix it!!!

I am now in the process of writing to them as I’m not prepared to pay a penny!!

Before you put pen to paper take a read of this article regarding consumer rights and myths.

I normally find a firm but polite approach works best rather than firing on all cylinders.

OK, so someone will told me ‘I told you so’.. the aforementioned dishwasher now reluctantly runs the 2 heaviest programmes, then sits there and beeps intermittently… and the on/off button is unresponsive.

So I have managed to extend its life by a year..but I fear its going to have to go now!!
