ParticipantI have an Indesit DIF 14T1 UK dishwasher that has developed a fault.
The machine performs the initial rinse, but does not follow through with the washing cycle. The power button flashes, and then lights 2 and 4 are on (ie the intensive wash, and rinse lights).
The first time the fault occurred was while the machine was on overnight. In the morning, the trip switch had gone on the downstairs power, I cant be certain the dishwasher did it, and it has not happened again. I have tried running the machine twice in total, same error both times. I also tried a rinse cycle, which it carries out with no problem.
I have tried turning the machine off at the wall for 10mins, then back on, but the problem still occurs.
I have read online it might be the element has failed. Can anyone suggest this might be the case, and if so identify a suitable replacement?
Are there any other checks I can carry out? Its integrated, so I will need to pull it out, carry out the checks and work out how to replace any parts before ordering them, but keen to get it working again ASAP.
Its approx 4 years old.
S/N is 604154131
The other ref on the label is 36840511600.Many thanks
James

Moderatoryes i am getting poss heater error as well
from info i think you need this one
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/c00256527-dishwasher-heating-elementbut double check with shop
you need to get at the heater terminals and test with a multi meter. you must check from the terminals where the wires plug in dont test from solid wires to heater as there are safety stats in the connectors
from tech know how they are saying most likely reason for failure is limescale build up due to wrong settings of water hardness settings or salt no avaiable when required by softenerDave

ParticipantDave, thanks for the reply. Plan on pulling the machine out tomorrow. Sorry for the dumb questions:
What unit of measurement am I testing on the heater terminals? ie Voltage, Amps, resistance?
What result (roughly) should I get if it does or doesnt work? I guess zero if it doesnt, and “something” if it does?May 21, 2020 at 9:42 am #468902electrofix
Moderatorwith the appliance turned off and the heater feed wire disconnected
set meter on ohms scale. use a low scale up to 200 ohms you dont want a scale to measure millions. touch the leads of the meter together to test its working. Then touch one lead on each connection of the element. if you get no reading its gone. If you get zero your leads must be touching each other. what we are after is any reading under 200. chances are it will be 80 ohms or so. give or take a lot. does not really matter as any reading under 200 means there is continuity in the element so its okDave
