Indesit Dishwasher not completing cycle

Hello and thanks for reading.
I have an Indesit DV62 WH UK diswasher that seems to have two problems…
Firstly, the cycle starts OK (can hear water flowing, tablet drop etc) but then after about 15 mins (pointer at about 2 o’clock position) get stuck. The cycle can be sort-of-completed by manually turning the dial a little, about three times, until the pointer eventually gets to the finish position…however…
when the door is opened, the dishes have been washed but there is no steam or heat and the dishes don’t seem to have been rinsed properly.

Any ideas/thoughts welcome.

could be a couple of things but the first 2 that need checking are

heater

both parts can be checked with a multi meter
