ParticipantHi, the machine has the second light from the left lit – the wash light. I can hear a whirring but there is nothing happening. This goes on until you power off the machine. The filters dont look blocked, the machine is a couple of years old.
Can anyone advise what I can do next to find/fix the problem?
Cheers

Inlet valve failure.
Power off before taking any panel off.

Thanks Penguin45,
I am assuming that the inlet valve is the first electrical attachment to the incoming water tube. If this is the case I cant see any screws – how do you get it off?
thanks for your help

Looks like a slot in type – IIRC, you remove the upper of the two rear panels and it slides out.

Thanks Penguin45.
I have a white thing on the water inlet with a slot in card type iirc, so it must be it. Im assuming its the iirc that I need to replace and not the white plastic module or is it the whole lot?
Cheers

Err, http://tinyurl.com/2c8un3 I guess you don’t do the acronym thing then, 😉 The first one in the list is the one you are looking for. 8)
The inlet valve will look something like this http://tinyurl.com/yt82gm without the metal plate. IIRC 😀
Jim.
PS. That model number does not match the current list from Indesit, do you mean an IDL500? You would have to check the inlet valve with a multimeter or meggar to find out if it was electrically faulty. Also worth checking that you actually have a water supply to the valve and that the filter in the valve is not clogged up.

Hi,
is that inlet valve the same as the solenoid valve?

The inlet valve is the solenoid valve. 🙂

Hi,
I replaced the inlet valve, but I still have the same problem. Any other ideas?
Thanks

Possibly engineer, Time, the electronic controls on Indesit machines are some of the least reliable on the market but we are getting into guesswork now.
