ParticipantHi,
we have had our Indesit Dl620 for a good few years – no issues, until yesterday.
On switching on a programme this is what happens:
Waste pump kicks in and pumps out waste
Water starts to flow in, stops, and then a humming noise.
Inside, the bottom tray has a couple of centimetres of water.Initially, according to my wife, lights 1 and 3 were flashing.
I have checked the water flow in, and it seems fine up to getting to that flat plastic funneling thing on the side of the d/washer. The slat reservoir has salt in the main compartment, but the cylindrical section looks full of yellow/black particles. Not sure, is this correct?
I have tried cancelling the programme, which works, the waste pumps out etc, but then restarting, I get the same symptoms….
any idea’s anyone?

Main circulating pump tired and jammed or it’s capacitor failed by the sounds…… 🙁

I’ve took the motor out. The spindle turns if i use screw driver at the end of the spindle.
Is there a way can test the motor and capacitor?
Ta.

It should turn easily and have no signs of leakage from the shaft seal. Usually the seal leaks and the shaft and adjacent bearing get rusty. It’s a capacitor start motor so they do fail (weaken) so if the motor/pump appear in good order try sticking a new capacitor on. Bench testing can be done but I cannot (will not ) venture into that area sorry, against forum rules.

Thanks for the reply.
Visually the motor looks fine, apart from a grey, metally/powder residue that is on the inside of the white pipe housing. It looks like it may have emanated from the spindle?
It’s 6yrs old now, used daily. Would it be more cost effective to replace c/w capacitor?
Would you say the symptoms I have given would also point to the motor/capacitor?

Either is the short answer and only further investigation can reveal what’s required. Cost also has to be factored into the equation too I would have thought. Indesit are basic, cheap machines not designed for longevity after all!

I can get a new motor and capacitor for about £75.
If it’s not the motor/pump would I need to be testing anything else, given my first post of symptoms?

Go for it then if you feel it worth the bother.
