A delay may not be an error, but it is just too long a delay, enough for you to think you haven’t pressed the button correctly and want to press it again if that makes sense. Turning the machine off is a quick response in contrast.

Yes it was, there would be maybe a 5 second delay but the Indesit engineer came out and reset the machine on Tuesday this week and so far it is working fine again. He said that the fault with the machine starting first time around may have been caused by a power surge or a power cut but it’s now fixed, so I suggest you book for an Indesit engineer to come out if you’re still in your 12 month warranty period.
Just make sure that the dishwasher has been installed level as they will blame the installation if they sit a spirit level on it and it’s not level, so best to check this before you call them out and before the engineer arrives or else you’ll have to pay approx. £55 call out fee. Other than this it’s completely free and is covered by your warranty Good luck!

    The saga continues….

The second engineer came a few days ago but only replaced the turbine for the overfilling. He was of the opinion that the ‘double start’ was down to the door locking assembly and he didn’t have that part with him. New part ordered, engineer re-booked for today. The problem with showing the fault to the engineer is that the machine will only ‘double start’ from cold. That means once the machine is switched on, then off, the next switch on the machine usually starts as it should.

Third engineer arrives this morning and replaces the door locking assembly. I make sure the machine is ‘cold’ as to show the engineer the ‘double start’. He replaces the door locking assembly, the machine then starts as it should, he thinks he’s fixed it.

I’ve left the machine untouched for two hours. Gone to start it and guess what…. it double starts! Not sure where I’m at with it now.

Yep. Engineer booked for Thursday now. According to the helpline adviser, if they don’t fix it at this attempt, they replace with a new dishwasher. We will see.

Another update ‘cos I bet you’re all dying to know!

The Engineer that arrived this week (4th different chap I’ve seen) rung me first to get the info on the problem. He felt sure it was the door hinge on the phone as he had experience of that problem before. He didn’t think it was the door hinge when he saw the problem in person though. He talked to technical whilst here and they wasn’t sure either but said to try “a top board”. Now waiting for that part, which is out of stock.

Think I’ll be at the back of the queue in the new year though once they start with all the washing machine repairs!

I’ve got an Indesit DSFE 1B10 S UK with a similar problem
It is 10 months old and over a period of time it has been taking longer to start. Now it won’t start at all. After a few minutes the on/off switch light repeatedly blinks on/off and the stop/start light repeatedly blinks 6 times.
I’m in a queue for an engineer to come out but if I knew what the blinking lights mean it might be an easy fix. Can’t find any references anywhere online or on the Indesit website.
Water pressure OK, no blocks in the drain, no leaks, door shuts ok, salt added ok.
    Update:
The engineer came out and diagnosed the code as a water pressure issue. The water supply was ok, so new pump and waste valves fitted. Still didn’t start. Took the power module out and obvious burn marks on the board. Replaced the board and it now works.
    Update 2:
2 months later and the problem has returned.

If it’s still under guarantee, you opening the machine will void any time remaining on it.
