ParticipantG’day
Wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the above model. I was given this by a relative and have noticed that when the clothes come out they have dirty marks on them. The seal around the door is very dirt ridden and I have tried to get it clean but not perfect. My machine also smells. 😥 We plumbed it into existing plumbing and have noticed it is just using cold water.! Being an Aussie family we are used to this in Oz but wondered if this is not the norm here in UK and that is possibly why the machine smells? 😕
Any suggestions would certainly help this stressed out mum..!! Many thanks
😀

Clean out the drain filter first (bottom right, under the kick board). If it’s on a sink coupling for the drain, strip and clean that out as well. Next, perform a service wash – quality bio powder (I like Ariel), empty machine, set it to the 90c wash and run. You may have to do this several times to kill the odours. If the door seal is seriously stained you will have no choice but to replace it – a straightforward job for a service engineer – click the link below to find one in your area.
A service wash should be performed monthly, it’s worth checking the filter at the same time. Also worth investigating water hardness in your area, to allow correct dosing of the machine.
HTH,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Sadly as we are plumbed to cold water only doing a 90c wash is useless. I take it is worth getting this plumbed to hot water connection also?

KeymasterNo, the machine will heat the water to whatever temperature you set it to, hot water is not required at all.
It’s worth reading this article
And perhaps some in this section
Hope that helps.

Ha! You’re used to the accursed F+P machines which wash at the temperature of the incoming water, aren’t you? All front loaders have a heater – the cold fill only is due to the extremely low water levels used in the wash (the hot wouldn’t pull through the pipes before the machine finished filling) and most modern powders activate better when used from cold.

Thank you so much…derrr I am now doing a 90c wash and hoping the machine will heat to that temp. !! It does seem to be going through the cycle ok should it be sitting and heating.!! Sorry for all the questions but used to top loaders in Oz ! 🙄 😀

It’s a long slow wash at 90c, but the difference can be quite remarkable afterwards.
