Hi. My Indesit CG1227 fridge/freezer has stopped working. There is no sound of the motor running and the fridge compartment is now at room temperature and everything is melting in the freezer. Some water has started to drip out.

It must have been this way for about 3 days now but it has only really just registered wth me. I had a burger out of the freezer on Wednesday I think which was a bit bendy so the alarm bells should have rung but didn’t.

Presumably I should bin all the food in the freezer section to be on the safe side?

THe light does come on inside but it is just not cooling. IS there anything I should look at or is there any other advice for me? There was a lot of frost in the freezer section so I wondered if it was just trying to defrost itself.

I don’t know if this unit is frost-free (doesn’t say so in the manual). It must be about 6-7 years old. Now I think of it something did fail before and was replaced just inside warranty, but the warrantly has lapsed.

    thanks for any advice

It sounds like the thermostat to me. A straightforward enough repair and not too expensive.

Check the repairs@ link at the bottom of my post, that should provide someone for you 🙂

It’s not frost free by the way 😉

    Dave.
