ParticipantThe above oven trips the electric supply when the main oven door is opened while the main oven is switched on.
The top oven and grill work fine.
What I thought should be a simple fault to find turned into a nightmare. 👿 It would seem the fault is through the neutral somewhere.
CHECKED (with Mega) for short circuit and earth leakage :
ALL elements
❗ Broken or damaged wiring
❗ Extraction fan
❗ Main oven fan
❗ Extraction fan TOC
❗ Final protection TOCI removed all neutrals and live tag connections from the terminal block to eliminate any false readings as it is hard wired.
Took the digital clock off to see if there was any signs but nothing.
There is a bit of a bacorlite burning smell round the selector switches but very hard to pin point.
I removed the front console and removed the switches to look at, but they appear ok, not sure about the thermostat/regulator switches attached behind them as they are sealed up.
Oh, the first thing I checked was the door switch which is also fine.
This was an after 4pm call and I had my daughter to pick up from nursery at 5:30 pm. Spent over an hour on this thing and got nowhere!
Im usualy good at fault finding with the test meter/mega but failed in the time I was allowed. 🙁 Anybody any ideas? PLease?
Thanks.

Rob, I would suggest you bye pass door mirco switch first, then test. if ok has to be switch. If the fault still persists hinges on door possible touching internal cables on open position, cant see it can be anythig else.
good luck. JohnJune 24, 2007 at 10:18 am #218153Simon46

i would agree. spark at switch contact causing rcd to trip. similar to plugging kettle into wall socket when it is switched on. does it happen when element is hot or at beginning?. Thinking insulation low when hot then spark takes it over edge.
