KeymasterCan anyone help, my indesit fridge freezer fridge isn’t cooling properly and the compressor keeps running constant. The freezer played up first by defrosting itself that seemed to right itself then the fridge stopped cooling properly and the freezer coils started to freeze up.
Ive defrosted for the 48 hrs but the fridge still isn’t cool enough. Freezer seems fine now if not to cold.July 18, 2005 at 8:07 am #141734Dave_Conway

It’s probably a system failure if it’s running constantly which would more than likely be an uneconomical repair.
The model number would help advise further though 😉

The model number is C239 NF and is only about 3 years old. It all seemed to start when the freezer door was left slightly open one night. Ice built up on the coils stopping the fan. As you can tel its a frost free system. since then all the problems mentioned above. the only thing is that when I turn the thermostat right down on the fridge part the freezer the compressor does eventualy stop. Freezer now still working but as I said seems to be running very cold.
Bottom of fridge seems colder than the top which isn’t cooling at all.
Light turns when shutting door.
Any help would be helpful or a lend of a big hammer !July 18, 2005 at 11:52 am #141736Dave_Conway

Ah, if the door was left open it’s very likely got an ice build up around the ducting and evaporator.
Defrost for 48 hours and try again, hopefully that shoud solve it 😀

Tried that the fridge still isn’t cooling properly.
Can’t see any sort of ducts entering the fridge compartment.Cheers

Probably best to get an engineer out then to be honest given that it’s frost free.
Have a look in Repairs@ for someone in your area 😀

Just an update on the problem with the fridge not cooling had the indesit engineers out and turned out to be a system blockage. No repair possible new fridge freezer required. Got a discount from hotpoint due to the fridge/freezer only been 3 years old and the price of the repair.
Still not happy with the age of the appliance but s**t happens.
