Indesit H563 IX not working

Hi,

We have an indesit cooker hood (model H563 IX) which was installed before we moved in.

It has worked fine for the past two years, apart from needing bulbs changed occasionally.

A few days ago I pressed the light switch on the hood, and there was an electrical flash and pop, coming from the area where the lights and the buttons are (the control unit I suppose) – the lights did not come on. I tried the switch a few more times and it did nothing. The cooker hood fan will not come on now either.

I am quite happy to repair this, but not sure what spare part I need or what I should test next to determine what needs replacing.

I would guess either a fuse has blown in the control unit, or it needs a new control unit?

Any help would be appreciated.
