Hi, I’ve inherited a Indesit Ceramic hob in a new house. Unfortunately the junction box had been removed during renovations.

I’ve bought a new junction box, but cant find a wiring diagram – I’ve tried everywhere; online, Indesit, suppliers, but cant find which wire goes where. Details are as follows:

The junction box has 6 terminals, numbered 1-6, one of them is obviously the earth. Each terminal has three male spade connections.

The hob has 9 wires with female spade connections: green & yellow earth wire, 2 blue wires, 2 yellow wires, 2 white wires, a red & a black wire.

Theres nothing on the junction box to show which wire corresponds with which number.

Could some kind soul help me?

    Thanks

You are on your own, on this one, I’m afraid 😥

the Forum rules don’t allow posting wiring-diagrams.

I’d guess that it’s a potential-liability issue, but the circuit is probably copyright anyway.

write or phone Indesit (Merlioni) and they might help you.

If you feel capable, open up the hob and it should be pretty obvious which wires go where, once you trace them.

If that’s beyond your abilities, you’ll have to get an engineer in.

sorry, not what you wanted to hear, and no, I don’t know either, so I’d have to trace the wiring.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for reply. I did contact Indesit, but they were completely hopeless and very unhelpful (note to self when buying a new appliance !!)

I actually opened it up and deduced the wiring myself, but as you rightly say, I wouldn’t do this unless you feel comfortable with electrics (engineer here !). I would say however, that the wiring convention and layout isn’t straightforward, and would probably counsel against it.

    Anyway, its working fine now.

    Thanks again
