Hi, I have an 18 month old Indesit I6G52X which in a static caravan. I’ve arrived today after not been here for a while (mentioning this as it not been used for a whole or being cold have be a factor) and as soon I switch on the oven the RCD blows. The hobs are gas so work fine and the electric grill works fine. The oven has options I’ve never used but some experiaments confirm the following:

Convection Mode (ie top and bottom elements) – Trips the RCD even with the temp knob at the top which I assume is 0
Fan Assist Mode (ie top and bottom elements and fan) – Trips the RCD even with the temp knob at the top which I assume is 0
Top Oven Mode (ie top element) – Trips the RCD even with the temp knob at the top which I assume is 0
    Grill – All fine
Grill and Fan – All fine

My assumption is the top element is the issue? https://parts.indesit.co.uk/product/model_I6G52XUK/Heaters-Elements/J00190952

Shall I order one, could the issue be anything else liek thermostat??

I would disconnect the suspect element and test again (ensuring the disconnected wires can’t touch anything) before ordering any parts.
It may have just got a bit of damp in it from sitting so it’d be worth removing whichever element is causing the issue and drying it out in your home oven to see if that makes any difference.

Thanks for replying. I really appreciate it. I wondered if it could be damp. The grill works and the top oven element is part of the grill as a replacement part (but separate components) so I could run the grill tomorrow and see if that helps??

    Cheers

if its damp and is drying out then each time you switch on from cold it will take progressivly longer to trip

Just run the grill for 30 mins and the oven is working again. Must have been damp! Thanks so much

    Hi,

All working well today, cooked a pizza ,ha . Really appreciate the support.

I’m going to have to leave the static caravan next week until March as the park is closed.

Do you think I’m best leaving the oven door open to allow air to circulate or closed to reduce the damp air that may be about?

    Thanks
    Louis

wont make a lot of difference as the moisture enters from the teminals
