ParticipantHi folks – looking for some help and advice (obviously!!)
I have a Indecit IDC75 condenser tumble dryer which has developed a loud squeal in one direction only while being used. I’ve done the usual clean and check of filters and can’t seem to see anything.
The drum spins reasonably freely when empty.
If it makes a difference it only squeaks in a clockwise direction.
Any help or advice welcome.November 23, 2014 at 2:41 pm #421874156441

Little you tube video of the said squeal.
It doesn’t do it all the time and the dryer is only 13 months old (although regularly used.)

13 months is a long time in the life of an Indesit dryer. 😉
Most likely causes are the jockey pulley or the rear bearing failing.
You can check the rear bearing by removing the small, squarish cap on the back, dead centre. If it is full of black dust or the bronze bearing is obviously worn away then it will need changing. If the shaft is damaged and it is only 13 months old then it will have the bearing shaft that is riveted to the drum. A complete drum replacement is needed.
The jockey pulley can be observed from behind the right hand (from front) side panel.

It doesn’t look to have gone too far, change the bronze, teardrop bearing ASAP. If you don’t it will wear right through the drum shaft. 🙁

Hi
Thanks for the advice and sorry to sound dumb but could you give me a step by step on how to do that?
Cheers

Just bend the thin pin straight at one end and pull it out, then you can remove the castellated collar. A single screw holds the bearing in but make a careful note of which way it fits back in.September 11, 2020 at 10:01 am #421880051079
ParticipantThis is still helpful. My dryer started to make the same noise, all be it much quieter but at least now I have an idea what might be wrong with it. Going to have a look on my day off to see if I can fix it myself.

Moderatorif its not the rear bearing there is a pulley on the motor of the condenser dryers that can make quite a racket
also has your unit been modified following the hotpoint dryer recall ?
