ParticipantHi,
Can the four drum bearing pads, C00255284 be replaced without dismantling the machine and removing the drum?
ThanksJuly 18, 2016 at 6:10 pm #439448iadom

Possibly, just about but would advise removing both side panels which is quite easy then the console needs removing.
If you are then VERY CAREFUL, you should be able to pull the front panel forward far enough to allow you to reach down to access the bearing pads.
Unless the machine has been absolutely hammered I would be very surprised if the bearing pads have worn away on this machine though????

Hi iadom,
Thanks very much for the advice. I understand that the machine was overloaded and now makes a strange noise which gets worse the heavier the load is.July 18, 2016 at 7:57 pm #439450iadom

I would be carefully checking the rear ‘teardrop’ bearing and drive shaft first of all.
If the metal drum shaft has worn badly then a new drum is required. 🙁
If you get a pile of black dust falling out when you remove the rear plastic cover then it’s likely the rear bearing has failed.
Have you checked this machine to see if it one that is subject to the fire risk/ safety recall?

There is no play in the teardrop bearing and it all looks pretty clean. The machine was made in August 2014 and is included in the recall. I understand that it could be months before Indesit call to do the modifications required.

At that age I would say that it is 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain that the front bearing pads are OK. Could be jockey pulley failing.

Thanks a lot, I will have a look at the jockey pulley when I get a chance.

Top off, left hand (from rear) side panel off and you will be able to see the jockey pulley, see if is loose or ‘waggly’. 🙂

With the sides off I have found that the noise is coming from the plastic bearing pads – a quick burst of silicone lubricant on the left hand one sorted out the noise. I believe the correct lubricant for this area of the tumble dryer is high melting point (120 degrees C) white lithium grease. Is this correct?

AFAIK these bearings do not need any lubrication. ?????
