Can’t see this error posted previously.

When we switch on machine (Cycle 1) it fills and heats normally starts pre-wash cycle, then stops, but the exit pump whirrs away continuously before the ‘pre-wash’ first green light flashes….and thats as far as it gets 5 mins into cycle if that. The exit tube is hot to the touch so is part emptying I think – but sounds as if it wants to empty some more before continuing if that makes sense!

I have removed filters and base of machine and pumps – all as clean as a whistle, blown through all pipes – no obstructions that I can see.

The only odd thing is the salt container/ grease trap. The grease trap appears to be gunked up but the grains inside do move – but cannot quite see how this would affect the pumping out, if that’s what problem is.

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

Machine is 14months old so just out of warrenty! (of course) 😥

    grease trap?

    pull the machine out…

tilt it 45 degrees to the left for 20 seconds

let the water empty out….. clean up water, try machine again… check the filters clean

    Re: Indesit IDL 40 Error

    No…………. filters all clean.

Found the problem though – the flashing light indicates the float overflow switch has kicked in – ie the machine has a leak – the bottom tray is full of water when you tilt it.

Traced leak back to the top spray arm feed pipe. The thread must have been overtightened when assembled as it’s split. Have reassembled minis the top tray guide and machine completed a full wash cycle 😉

So just need to order a new top spray arm feed pipe and refit with top tray guide.

    Job done.

    Thanks for your response helo_75
