    Hi all

I’m hoping you can help with an issue. I have an Indesit IDL40 which came with the house I bought, I think it is around 5 years old – from what I’ve read this is pretty good going…!

However, whatever program I run, after about 30 secs, lights 2 and 4 start flashing and the machine shuts down. I have had the door panel off and the thermostat is sitting firmly in its holder.

I had a look at the heater element, on the right hand side, it almost looks like it has rusted through, and the element wasn’t warm either, just after the machine stopped. Appreciate I can have the element out and measure the resistance, but would if it has failed, would it cause the lights 2&4 to start? Just debating a £30 fix or call it a day and not waste £30 if its unlikely to cure it. Will try and get a pic later if that’s any help.

    Cheers

    Not a thermostat, it’s a thermistor. 😉

2+4 is an open circuit heater fault.

    I stand corrected!

Well I’ve had the heating element out, and the rust bleb was quite bad, the resistance readings were all over the place, then a piece fell out and it went to infinite ohms. I’ve ordered a new element and hope that should fix it!

    Thanks
